Craft of the Week: Handmade Dolly

I think a lot of people have been making these kinds of dolls lately.
They are sweet, old-fashioned looking, and they are so simple to make.
I used this pattern from Martha Stewart as my starting point.
Then I changed up a few things.

Next time I make one I will probably draw my own templates.
I would like to try and make the hair a little different.
And I have not been able to commit to the eyes yet.
I am nervous I will not like how I do them.
Here is a picture of me when I was little.
My mom used to make these giant clowns, as well as giant Strawberry Shortcake dolls.
I think they were made basically the same way, just a lot bigger.

I am going to keep working on my little dolly.
And probably make her some friends.
My littlest one loves to play with her babies these days.
How fun to add a couple handmade ones to the mix.

cute! so... what did you do for the eyes? :) i made a black apple doll last christmas for a gift - i too was intimated by the face - i landed up using two simple light brown felt circles for the eyes. subtle and turned out cute!
